1601 Larkin St is a 5 story building consisting of 27 brand new condos in the heart of San Francisco Nob Hill neighborhood and very walkable to Polk Street shops and restaurants.

1601 Larkin St is being built on the site of the former St. John’s Church at 1601 Larkin St, which was not being used as a church since 2004. The proposed plan for the 1601 Larkin St had been rejected several times over the past few years, and the developer, the united Methodist church, the city planning and the neighbors fought a long battle until the project got approved by the city planning department.

The initial building plans for 1601 Larkin St condos – by Stanley Saitowitz of Natoma Architects – underwent several revisions in order to blend easier and much better with the surrounding Victorian and Edwardian architecture in the neighborhood. As a result, the initial plans for a 6-story glassy ultra-modern and boxy building got revised to a 5-story condo building with additional setbacks on 4th and 5th floors and less glassy solid finishes.
